Should patients pay more for the same test performed in a hospital?

The topic is whether hospitals should be able to charge more for providing the same service, e.g., an echocardiogram, as an outpatient facility and be reimbursed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the higher fee. CMS appears ready to say “no” with respect to 66 of those services.

Millennials are a larger percentage of home purchasers than Gen X. This is a bit of a surprise, since their wages have lagged more than other age groups and they’ve had significant challenges in re-paying the larger portion of student loan debt. I say, good for them!
