Laura Deming is running a biotech fund that has raised $27 million, and she’s not even new to it: She became a VC at 17, inspired by her time as a 12-year-old employee at a world-renowned aging lab.
But that’s not even the most baffling part. Deming’s focus, scientifically and as an investor, is in the burgeoning field of longevity, which is to say that at 23, her days are spent trying to forestall aging.
“Our overall goal, the fund’s mission, is that everyone in the world can live as long as they want,” Deming told STAT. “Energetically and robustly in a state that you would want to continue. Not in a kind of decrepit, bedridden state.” #inspiration #running #longevity #deming #stat
