Kaiser Permanente announced today that George Halvorson, its chairman and CEO, would be retiring in December 2013.
Halvorson joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002 after leaving his position with HealthPartners in Minnesota. Just after joining KP, he was an integral player in the decision to implement Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect®, an enterprise-wide electronic health record system. According to the press release, “KP HealthConnect is the largest nongovernmental system in the world.”
In 2012, George Halvorson was named No. 6 on Modern Healthcare’s annual 100 Most Influential People and he has been on that list every year since it was created.
