Tomosynthesis detects 40% more breast cancers than traditional mammography does, according to a major screening study from Lund University, Sweden. This is the first large-scale study to compare the screening method with regular mammograms. The 3D X-ray technique is also more comfortable for women, as breast compression is halved.

Congress is proposing a so-called “doc fix” deal, part of which will include a permanent repeal of Medicare’s sustainable growth-rate formula and a two-year extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program with a total cost exceeding $200 billion.
Thus far, there are no corresponding reductions in spending to compensate for the proposed changes, raising concern that Republicans will oppose approval.

This is a great story about a physician who decided to follow his heart (pun intended) and do what interested him. The fact that he appeared to be academically mediocre didn’t stop him because he had a vision.
